The book "The perks of being a Wallflower" speaks to me in ways no one could ever imagine. Everything about the book reminds me of my life, just another time and setting. The main character Charlie (a wallflower) is different among everyone else and he seems to fit in with a certain group of people who aren't anything like him. He has family issues, and he loses extremely important people in his life. The one thing he doesn't lose is himself. His positive attitude and state of mind help him to remain the great person he is. He likes to please the people around him, and doesn't seem to judge others because of their differences. For example, during a party he found his friend Patrick kissing another boy. He didn't really understand the concept of homosexuality, but he completely accepts him because that's just who he is.
In another part of the book, he was also shown to be very intelligent. Which I love even more about him. He is smarter than others in his school, but he chooses not to brag about it. He simply waits until that one person decides to take him for a fool, and he proves them wrong. Ever since I read the Perks of being a wallflower , I had felt as though Charlie was me and this book was meant to be in my hands. That is why I always call myself a wallflower, and embrace being different from those around me.
Yes, I love this book. I read it over like two times and I actually have the movie at home ! I like how you compared yourself to Charlie. Being that I don't really know you as well, the comparison between you and him gave me a sense of who you are and I found that to be really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI have never read the book, but it seems like an interesting book to read. By the way you explained i was really able to get a grasp and of what the book might be about. I liked how you compared yourself to Charlie and why you call yourself a wallflower.
ReplyDeleteI really love that book too. What did you think about the revelation at the end?
